Lloyd Burton Moore left this earth and had the joy of meeting his God & Savior, face to face, on Saturday, Sept. 14th at 7:26am.

Over the last 7 ½ years, he gracefully endured 4 cancer diagnoses, a liver transplant, and a weakened heart due to chemo.  Although he endured much pain, Lloyd always gave God the glory for helping him through each day; but would often joke that he credited his wife Rhonda for giving him the kick in the butt he needed at times.

His non-assertive love was felt quietly but abundantly by his wife of 44 years, Rhonda, his children, Annette (spouse Craig) and Scott (spouse Amber) and by his precious grandchildren, Ben, Jocelyn, Ellie, Jackson, Andenet, and Jonah.  He is survived by his sister, Lois Neale and his brother, Glenn Moore; his brother in-law, Rodney Lasher, his sister in-laws Darlene Lasher and Robyn Wright and his father in-law, Ronald Lasher.  His cherished wife, Rhonda, and family will dearly miss him!!!

Lloyd had a quieter, laid back personality which allowed him to take time for people. He had a dry sense of humor and a love for pranks. It didn’t take long for people to feel at ease around him.  He enjoyed picking on people and had a few oddities that made him an easy target. Things like: onion peanut butter sandwiches and pickles on ice cream. He just loved people, period!

Lloyd and Rhonda ministered faithfully together, sharing the life changing news of Jesus Christ, and walking with people through difficult and joyous times. In the early years of his ministry, God used Lloyd in the lives of many young people as director of summer camps and fall youth retreats (for the Standard Church).  He passionately helped them understand God’s love and walked with them as they navigated questions, concerns, that teens can experience.

God allowed Lloyd to touch lives in the churches and communities where he pastored: Shawville, PQ, Belleville, ON, North Gower, ON, Sussex, NB, Indianapolis, IN, Cape Coral, FL, Kokomo, IN and Cicero, IN.  He also served as the director of house parents at the Hephzibah Children’s Home in Macon, GA, where he got to show his thoughtful love for “at-risk” children.

One of Lloyd’s absolute joys was investing in the women and men who were training for pastoral ministry.  For 15 years Lloyd taught classes for FLAME (for the Wesleyan Church) including counseling, psychology, pastoral ministries, and New Testament.  Many times, a student would call later needing personal or ministry advise.  Lloyd always had time, a listening ear, and a caring heart.

He did not desire to take any attention for himself, but that only God would be lifted up through his life!

We can only imagine what it will be like when we walk side by side with Jesus; but on Saturday morning Lloyd was no longer imagining it, he was living it!  To God be the glory!

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 17 at 6 p.m. at The Wesleyan Church Headquarters, 13300 Olio Road, Fishers, IN. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lloyd’s name to Waterline Church, The re-church planting fund, 13300 Olio Road, Fishers, IN 46037 or at waterlinechurch.com/give/

A memorial service will be held in Canada at a later date.

Dear Rhonda, Scott and Annette. Our heartfelt condolences. We have all lost a great man in husband, father and Pastor. We remembered many good times in his company while in North Gower. He was a demonstation to all the people he met of God’s love and grace and perhaps his sense of humor.
He will be sorely missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you walk through the mourning process.
We rejoice that his struggle is over and he rests in the arms of our heavenly father forevermore.
    Praise the Lord.

Dear Rhonda, Annette, Scott and family,
Mom and I extend our deepest condolences to you at this time. Although we both are experiencing a lonely feeling, yet we do not mourn as those who have no hope. We know we will see Lloyd again around God’s throne where so many others dear to our hearts have already gathered. We thank God for your ministry not just to those of us in Belleville but for all your years of faithful service to God throughout Canada and the US. We are praying for God’s comfort which has been promised to us for such a time as this. Love you!

I met Rhonda at TWC and quickly learned that Lloyd was in need of prayer for his health, so his name became a “regular” to me and my childhood friend and prayer partner Romana, who lives in Brazil.
As I place words on this memorial for Lloyd, I am grateful I had the opportunity to meet this Christian brother and his lovely bride. He fought the good fight and is now home with his Maker.
No more pain; no more tears; no more sorrows, but a sweet reunion where he receives assurance from the Lord with these words, “well done, good and faithful servant.”
May God comfort the hearts of those who are having to say goodbye for now. God bless the Moore family!

Rhonda, I am so very sorry that you and your family have temporarily been separated from Lloyd. Michele and I have/had fond memories of our interactions with you all at Trinity (Indpls). Lloyd spoke into our lives as he did countless others. The wisdom he shared with me I pass on to others. The ripples of Lloyd’s life, legacy and wisdom have and will continue to reach people who may never hear of him. But, they will reap the benefit of his being a humble servant of Jesus while he was here on earth obeying the Father. I am a better person and servant of Christ because of him.

To read the Obituary of a man that has been prayed for many times in our church is sad. However to read of the kind of man he was would want anyone to wish they had the privilege of knowing him personally and to have sat under his ministry. The only thing good about death is knowing that there is no more suffering and everlasting life free of pain and disease begins. The hope is left for those waiting to join him. May God bring extra strength at this time and a peace that passes all understanding. Give praise and worship for the life well lived for his Lord. The God of all comfort is with you now and evermore. Love and prayers from Napanee, ON

  47. Mike Keller says

    September 18, 2019 at 10:16 AM

    Rhonda, Annette, and Scott,
Thank you so much for sharing Lloyd with our hospice family. I will forever treasure the many deep, philosophical conversations we had over lunch or just sitting in the office. He and I once joked that we probably owed a full gallon jar of pickles to the McAllister’s near the office as lunch almost always required a bundle of dill spears. He showed his deep love for God, often without saying a word. At the same time, he respected the beliefs (and, in some cases, non-belief) of others. I will forever remember discussing an experience I had observing a Wiccan post-mortem ritual with the family of one of our patients. He was a comfort to us in tough times, a clown when necessary, and a rock always. I’m going to miss him, but at the same time and knowing his firm belief, I’m sure he’s with us as part of the mind and omnipresence of God.
God rest you, my Brother. God grant peace to the family.

Dear Rhonda, Annette, Scott and Families –

Our dear Pastor Lloyd – the man who married us here in North Gower in 1987, the man who ministered to us God’s truth and who was a dear friend and confidante …..
Lloyd was a salt of the earth sort of guy, one who appealed to the common man because he was not here for appearances but here to SERVE. We are so thankful for his ministry.
Rhonda – our prayers and thoughts are extended to you and your family at this time. Lloyd is no longer suffering and you are left to ponder the wonder of it all. We wish you the very best. Big hugs from us to you. Norman and Diana Field, North Gower On Canada
